My Dev Shop, Inc. launches Inpowered Cellular Retail POS sites using Resin application server

LA JOLLA, CA -- March 22, 2005 -- Caucho Technology, Inc., a leader in providing solutions to ensure high availability and reliability for large-scale Java™ 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) applications, today announced My Dev Shop, Inc. launched it’s Inpowered Cellular Retail POS (www.inpowered.com) sites using Resin because of its superior performance and low cost.

My Dev Shop, Inc. was the first to create a unique web based point of sale and business management application for cellular retailers. The application allows retailers to run their entire business over the web without any software installs and patches.

Caucho Technology produces Resin, an elegant application server used by thousands of corporate, education and government clients. Its simplicity of use allows organizations that have large and demanding sites to focus on delivering their message. Customers using Resin include Javalobby.com, EBay's half.com, CNet, Evite, the American Red Cross, the Toronto Stock Exchange and Salesforce.com. Resin delivers fast and stable performance under heavy load situations.

Robert Brenchley, President of My Dev Shop Inc., and Inpowered Inc. said,“We chose Resin for a number of reasons. In a previous development project we (My Dev Shop, Inc) had been using WebSphere. We had to reduce our costs so we began looking for a different App Server. We tested numerous applications servers and were not satisfied with their performance. We found Resin, tried it and were immediately impressed with how fast it is. .” Brenchley continued, “We now use Resin for every data driven web application that we develop and host. Resin has been able to handle the load that our cellular retailers have placed on it.”

Inpowered was created in 2001 in Utah when a local cellular retail company decided that they didn't like any of the client server applications available for cellular retailers for a number of reasons. What they needed was an application that would network all of their seven stores together in real time, not require software maintenance, installs or IT people, and be easy to learn and simple to run. Inpowered was developed for this reason. Inpowered’s success led other retailers to use it in their stores. Today Inpowered is being used throughout the United States and internationally in retail shops with one to hundreds of different store retail locations. Inpowered runs entirely on Caucho’s Resin application server.

Steve Montal, Director of Sales and Strategic Partnerships for Caucho Technology said, “We are pleased that My Dev Shop chose Resin as their application server engine for their Inpowered web sites. My Dev Shop is a true leader in that they saw a performance gap in the cellular retailer market and developed Inpowered to fill that gap.” Montal added, “Inpowered and Resin make great performance partners and Caucho is pleased to be a part of My Dev Shop’s success.”

With numerous added features, increased speed and load balancing, Caucho's Resin application server has earned an industry-wide reputation as a robust solution to the Java application challenges that web developers most often face. Caucho has also developed the Hessian binary protocol in an effort to produce fast solutions for the rapidly expanding web services arena.
